Review by Jim Dobson

Hi, I just returned home from the concert today and am still blown away by what I witnessed last night.  This is the first time I have seen the Who perform in Canada (usually in the States).  The John Labatt Centre holds roughly 9000 people so there is not a bad seat in the house.  What a way to see the masters of the stage perform.  I sat just to the right of the stage, about 20 feet away.  I was amazed at how Pete and Roger energetically run up the stairs to the stage.  They genuinely appear to be thoroughly enjoying themselves this time more than any other. Other than a few minor technical difficulties near the end, the show was flawless.  The lighting and the accompanying videos on the moveable screens are unlike any other I have ever seen.  Hats off to the WHO and their production people for making this a most enjoyable and memorable show.

After the first couple of tunes, Pete looked into the nose bleed seats and said "how nice, pretty much a sold out show".  The venue released seats in the morning of the show.  There were even third row seats available for $127.00.  I was in the second row, dead centre.  Pretty much the standard set list (exactly the same as the Ottawa show) except they added Man in a Purple Dress and Mike Post Theme (perhaps).  I say perhaps as I haven't heard it before and there was no introduction but they started it 3 times.  Pete was getting pissed at Zak for not waiting for Rogers cue.  He screamed at him to wait until Roger said "one, two, three".  Zak had quite a surprised look on his face like "what did I do wrong" sort of thing.  Towards the end of the show there were a couple of technical problems.  Rogers mike died and his replacement mic didn't work right away.  A box that Pete's guitar is plugged into died twice also.  Again, he seemed very annoyed about the problems.  Other than these minor issues, it was a fantastic show.  Both Roger and Pete seemed to be totally into the gig.  After the show I ran for the stage door. All band members left without signing autographs except Pete.  He went into a bus for about 30 minutes then came out and signed a bunch of stuff.  I have this tattoo of Pete jumping in the air on my right forearm and wanted to get it signed so I could have the autograph tattooed also.  He was 2 feet in front of me, signed an Empty Glass album cover for the kid beside me then I showed him my tattoo and asked for him to sign it but he moved to the guy on the other side of me without signing. Great show but disappointment for me at the end.  I guess I'll just have to try again at the show in Toronto on December 4th.
